Wackering the switch backTIMBER is a not for profit organisation dedicated to improving mountain biking in the Thetford Forest area for riders of all levels. TIMBER members and volunteers build and maintain trails with the cooperation and support of the Forestry Commission.

Wackering the switch back

The Thetford Forest attracts over 1.5 million visitors each year, many of whom come specifically to ride our trails. TIMBER members are mostly MTB cyclists, but partners, friends and even children may participate in volunteer events. Members live as close as Brandon and as far away as London.

The guiding philosophy of TIMBER is the belief that improving the trails and routes in the Thetford Forest will not only improve riding conditions for cyclists in the forest, but will also foster community involvement and promote mountain biking as a whole in a positive light.

Wackering the switch backTIMBER is affiliated with the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and follows their standards of sustainable and natural trails that cause minimum disturbance to the landscape and provide maximum enjoyment on a bike.

TIMBER works closely with the Forestry Commission of England to verify that health and safety standards are met and to make sure that TIMBER projects don’t conflict with other activities in the forest.
