I'm no builder but it looked a lot like cement, and as they were not there last week they weren't formed naturally!

I was going to take some pictures but there was a group of riders sitting at the start of the section, so I didn't want to look a complete nerd.

I wonder how they got approval for that.

Anyway - we're all on for tomorrow and the weather should be good. See you all at 9:30am

Thanks everyone for turning up - another hard day but we achieved a lot. Apologies for the disorganisation again at the start. But it's great to say that we've finished THAT track on the Shepherd trail. It's now got a layer of stone along its whole length and we widened it a bit at the start. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the work on this section. We then moved on to the black (Lime Burner) crossing that had been layed out a few months ago. It was completely hidden in the bracken. Luckily we got to it just in time and it was revealed after a bit of hacking. We put a thin layer of stone on top and ran the Bomag nervously over it (we were a tad concerned at leaning the Bomag into the bends). We've left this short section open so you can go and ride it if you like. Next job is to work on the crossing a bit further down the fire road.

I did a Black trail inspection afterward, and I think it's fair to say we have a lot of work to do there!

Looks great. Appears to look just like stone to me - although I'm sure it looks different if you're there. We can do something like that on the downhill bit on the red long loop before you cross the exit road. A lot of work, but easier if the stone is barrowed down the hill. For 39 steps it had to be barrowed up hill!
