Because one of these will mess you up...

As most of you are aware their are some major harvesting operations currently taking place on the Brandon side of the forest.

This area has several sections of popular singletrack and is well used mountain bikers and other forest users. The FC are currently facing a problem with people ignoring signs entering the site. Unfortunately this does mainly seem to be mountain bikes. I fully understand that is tempting to nip past the signs and have a quick blast through but please don't, there is plenty other areas of forest out there. I can't stress enough how dangerous this machinery is! These machines are working hard to fell and process as much timber as possible and are very unlikely to see a passing cyclist and by that point it's too late. I know it might be the last chance you have ride some of these sections, but please do not risk it being you last ride!

The Forestry Commission have informed us that "cleanup" operations are starting again on 1st December 2010 on part of the Red Route near the exit from High Lodge in Thetford Forest. This is the same place it was closed back in September. Signs will be in place, so please adhere to the diversions.

The contractors are expected to take approx 2 weeks to chip and bail the area, aiming to open in time for the xmas holidays. The FC will keep us updated with any further news/progress along the way.
